About CBC
Community Bible
Church exists to bring Glory to God by our Worship of the Lord,
by equipping the Saints for the work of ministry, by
fellowshipping with and loving one another and by working in the
Evangelistic fields which surround our Church, our homes and
even to the ends of the earth! Praise God!
We are a
multi-elder, multi-deacon church body utilizing a fulltime
Pastor-Teacher to encourage and direct the body. The teaching of
the Word is done through expository teaching and preaching. The
Word of God is the basis for Community Bible Church's guidance
and significance.
Community Bible
Church has a uniqueness of multiple children families, Multi-ethic families,
Home school families, 43% stay-at-home Moms, single Parent families,
personal involvement in missions giving, prayer centered involvement,
scripture memorization and a budding new, young and Godly-generation.
Community Bible
Church is non-denominational, spiritually interdependent, financially
independent, incorporated body of believers. The Church does not
belong to any larger earthy organization. According to the scripture,
Community belongs "to the General Assembly and Church
of the First Born who are registered in heaven, to an innumerable
company of angels, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men
made perfect, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the
blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Able."
We believe that financial
giving is a part of our worship. We also believe that investing the temporal
for the sake of raising up a future of God fearing people is the way God
would have us be "faithful with little" as training for much.
So that we might hear Him say, "Well done thou good and faithful servant.
You have been faithful with little enter into the joy of your Lord".
Are we interested
in growing the uniqueness of "Community Bible Church" for the
future generation, today? Yes we are!
Doctrinal Statement
Community Bible Church seeks to Glorify God through worship,
develop growth and fellowship of the believers, and communicate
the truth of salvation to the world by discipling men to and in
Jesus Christ our Lord.
1.
We believe that all Scripture is inerrant in the original
writings and is verbally inspired by God.
2.
We believe in one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect
and eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son and Holy
Spirit.
3.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God,
who was born of the Virgin Mary and became man without ceasing
to be God in order to reveal God and to redeem man.
4. We believe that the Lord
Jesus Christ died as a substitutionary sacrifice for the sins of the whole world
and that He arose in the same body from the dead. He is our Great High Priest and
Advocate at the right hand of God; He is the Head of the Church, and the Lord
of the individual believer.
5. We believe that the Holy
Spirit is the third person of the Godhead, who convicts the world of sin and
regenerates and indwells the believing sinner.
6. We believe that man was
created in the image of God, and that when Adam sinned he brought physical and
spiritual death upon the whole race. All men are sinners and separated from God and
incapable of salvation by good works.
7. We believe that salvation
is a name, which describes the means provided by God for man to escape
the penalty resulting from Adam's disobedience to God's instructions, and
obtain eternal life in God's family. This is received by personal faith in the
Lord Jesus Christ. We can obtain this position in God's family when we confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord, with our words, our life style, and through
belief in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead.
8. We believe that sin
can only be forgiven when a person submits to Jesus as Lord.
9. We believe that the
believer's life follows the Lord in obedience to His commands of Baptism
and the Lord's Table.
10. We believe that the true
Church, the Body of Christ, was established on Pentecost after the resurrection
of Christ. All true believers have been baptized into the body of Christ by the Holy
Spirit, and are eligible to be members of the local church.
11. We believe that
each believer makes Christ the center of their life through: frequent reading
of the Scriptures, fellowshipping with other Christians regularly, exercising
a consistent prayer life, sharing the truth of salvation in Jesus Christ
verbally and by lifestyle, should live looking for the glorious appearance
of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
12. We believe that the
Lord Jesus Christ will come again to receive His own to Himself,
that there will be a great tribulation, and that He will come again to set
up His earthly Kingdom in a thousand year reign of peace.
13. We believe that those
who die in Christ go immediately into His presence and remain there
until the resurrection of the body. We believe that unbelievers will be punished
with everlasting separation from the presence of the Lord and the glory of His power.

Our Leadership
Community believes and
practices the Biblical concept of "plurality" of leadership. We therefore, have a
Pastor and a Body of Elders who function together to lead the church.
Our Pastor is Clarence G. Reed.
He is a graduate of Mid-South Bible College and Dallas Theological Seminary.
The Pastor has been in the Pastoral ministry since 1986. He has served as Pastor
in 2 Churches. from 1986- 1995 he was Pastor of Evangel Baptist Church in
Memphis, Tn. Since January 1995, he has been the Pastor of Community Bible
Church. Prior to his Pastoral ministries, he was a youth Pastor at Open Door Bible
Church in Memphis and Gaston Avenue Baptist Church in Dallas. Our Pastor loves
the Lord, loves the Word of God and the people of God. His desire is to clearly
and practically present the life changing Word of God!
Our Elders, like our Pastor,
are committed to "teaching and living the Book". The Elders are apt to teach, lead
and administrate the work of God at Community. Presently there are four men who
have been identified by the Lord for this ministry. They are: Alan Alspaugh,
Chuck Galy, Lyman Lancaster and Fred Levy.

Principles of Our Common Faith
1. God Never reveals
every thing that will happen on the Journey of Faith prior to the journey.
In Ex. 2, Moses’ Parents did not know what would become of Moses when
they placed him in the Reeds. David was anointed King many years before
he took the position. In the intervening years he was the subject
of King Saul’s extensive manhunt for his life.
2. God Never
provides all the faith needs on the Journey of Faith in Advance. For
Forty years the people of God wandered in the wilderness. God
provided the Manah (What is it?) each day to meet their needs.
When they tried to gather extra to save work for the next day, the manah
would become wormy and rot.
3. God does not
provide faith needs on the Journey of Faith in a manner that we would
expect. Who would have planned to provide a lamb for Abraham seconds
prior to Abraham’s thrusting a knife in the chest of Isaac?
4. God does not
need our help in supplying the needs of faith on the Journey of
Faith. In Ex. 3, Moses tried to free Israel by his own power and failed miserably.
Abraham tried to help God by providing a seed through Hagar, He failed!
The product of his failed attempt was Ishmael.
5. God created
the laws of nature or science, and works outside of human knowledge and
wisdom. Heb. 11:3; says that God created the heavens and earth contrary
to every fact of science. He created the Heavens and Earth Ex Nihilo out of nothing!
6. God tends
to work with moving objects on the Journey of Faith. There are a few instances in
Scripture where the believer is instructed to Wait, (the coming of the Holy Spirit).
The believers where not marking time, they were praying and waiting for a specified
action. God took a busy servant, Philip and took him to The Ethiopia. Philip would
have never reached the Ethiopian Eunuch had he remained in Samaria. In fact, it was
more logical to remain and continue working with the multitude than to go to one man.
In the same manner, Paul was serving God and God directed him to Macedonia.
It is easiest to move moving people of faith.
7. Individuals
on the Journey of Faith must exercise their faith, they cannot live on another’s faith.
Heb. 11; shows that in each case, the individual exercised their trust in God.
The exceptions would be in cases like: Moses when he was placed into the boat by
parents of faith. Abraham trusting Isaac’s life into God’s hands, etc. One must
exercise their own faith on the Journey, however, our experiences of faith can
challenge and encourage others to faith.

Our History
In 1977,
Russell and Pat Sasscer made a decision to return to the United
States after 17 years of missionary work in Guyana and Brazil. Because
their four children were approaching college and marrying age, the
Sasscers made the decision to change their ministry in order to be close
to their children during their crucial decision-making years. That wise,
stable, family decision is still being emphasized today at Community
Bible Church many years after Russ and Pat have retired, and Clarence
and Laurie Reed have stood up to continue their role. The faithful
Guidance and support of our children has in turn resulted in stable and Faithful
support from the church member families for the ministries and the Facilities.
Originally, the main
ministry of Community Bible Church was towards FIT students (Florida Institute of
Technology/now Florida Tech). Twenty-five years later, three of those
students still attend and support Community Bible Church with their wives
and families. Though many families have come and gone (as in any church),
40% of our church membership has been attending for ten to twenty or
more years. Of the 70 children in the church at present, 34 were born and
raised in families who made Community Bible Church attendance a
lifetime habit. (13 of them were born to those three original FIT student
members). Four of the newer families are expecting babies over the
next few months, while the original Community Bible Church babies are
now in college. On the whole, our families view the Community family as
a place to stay and raise up a God-fearing generation.
